May Day Flowers

May Day Flowers

Tie a bundle of fresh flowers with string or ribbon, slip on a painted sleeve, and tie the arrangement on a friends front doorknob or garden gate.

Use poster paints and 5"x7" watercolor postcards to paint assembly line style. Don't put a lot of thought into the design. Just paint something small on each sheet of paper using only one color at a time. Continue adding colors until each postcard is complete. Glue the longest sides together to form a cylinder and secure them with paperclips until dry.

No time? This was the apple juice bottle from my breakfast yesterday. The ribbon was saved from a holiday gift last year. Creating the arrangements the day before makes delivering them early May Day morning a breeze. I stored mine in the refrigerator over night.

Fruit makes a great container! Insert a sharp paring knife, about 2" deep, where you would like to place the flowers and twist to create a hole. Skewer the fruit with a twig and attach a ribbon on both sides for a hanger.

Even a bag from the boutique down the street can make a pretty arrangement.
