Hoard the Cord Keepers Not the Toilet Paper

Hoard the Cord Keepers Not the Toilet Paper

These cord keepers are made out of toilet paper tubes, and I got this idea from my mother. She has been using toilet paper tubes to wrangle her hairdryer and curling iron cords for decades. I never really considered it a particularly brilliant idea, because my mother was always ingeniously, well organized in aberrant ways. She never covers the tubes. She uses them as they are and throws them out when they fall apart. Usually, they fall apart right about the same time it is necessary to replace a roll of toilet paper and a new tube is available.

I love their practical nature, but I have never liked how they look when you open your cabinet drawer. That’s why I started covering them with origami paper, and in the process of making them pretty, I’ve made them more durable. Some of mine are more than ten years old.

I realized that I should have posted this when we all began to shelter in place so everyone could have been saving their toilet paper tubes. I wasn’t among the group of people who hoarded toilet paper, and I am still waiting for an order of it to arrive from Amazon. (I ordered it at the end of February.) I looked up the status of my order today and it said, “Your order may be lost.” Da ya think? I stopped using toilet paper to blow my nose and wipe off my makeup in March. I am conserving it now for more important jobs. So, consequently, it has taken me till now to collect enough of my own to create this blog. You can use paper towel tubes and wrapping paper tubes also. You will just need to cut them down to size.
