A Neutral Palette and Nature are the basis for this easily transformable interior decoration.
Ironstone is one of my go-to neutrals. I appreciate ironstone pottery’s sturdy simplicity and intrinsic utility, so I have and use a lot of it. It’s stylish on its own, but it is also a great base for seasonal flower arrangements.
This kitchen is small, and its storage is limited, so I chose to install open storage shelves on either side of the stove. I needed to keep the kitchen physically and visually uncluttered because it is so small and open to the family room and dining room. The shelves allowed for adequate storage for my ironstone pottery and created a neutral tableau that I’ve been able to change and transform with flowers. I’m lucky to have a lot of flowers in my garden, so I just have to grab my cutting shears and venture out into my yard to change the look of my interior decor.
The other benefit to ironstone’s creamy neutral palette is that I can place flower arrangements all over the house, and they blend in no matter where I put them.
Maybe ironstone isn’t your thing? Try using a grouping of glass, terracotta, silver, wood, or porcelain vessels.
