Revisit the 80's: Friendship Pin Napkin Rings

Here’s a new way to use an old idea. These napkin rings are made out of friendship pins that my mom made in the 1980s. She made hundreds of them and machine sewed them, with a button stitch, onto a sweatshirt for me. The friendship pins hung like fringe, and I loved it. I wore it for years until the sweatshirt completely wore out. I didn’t want my mom’s efforts to go to waste, so I cut all the friendship pins off the sweatshirt and squirreled them away in my studio until the 2000s. That’s when I turned them into napkin rings. They are my favorite go-to napkin rings for outdoor dining and I wanted to share them with you.
